[Also in Group XXIX] A valve for a shock absorber piston 26 comprises a flexible disc 35 secured to the piston so as to cover passages 28, and a rigid disc 36 also secured to the piston and supporting the disc 35 against flexing over a part of its periphery, the other part of its periphery having limited flexure. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, a shock absorber piston 26 has inner and outer rings of ports 28, 27. The ports 27 a.re covered by a disc valve 29 loaded by a spring 30. The ports 28 open into an annular channel 33 surrounded by an annular seat 31 for a disc valve 35. A rigid disc 36 having a segmental area 37 removed (Fig. 2) is clamped against the valve 35 by a nut 40 and a rigid or semi-rigid plate 39. The valve 35 may comprise a series of superposed discs. The disc 36 may have two segmental areas removed (Fig. 3) or three, Fig. 4 (not shown).</p> |
