The safety device (49) has a sensor (21) with temperature detecting unit (24), which is electrically coupled with an electric cooking appliance (1) and control unit (3). The sensor is arranged at a distance from a cooking area where the temperature detecting unit focuses the hob (2) for contactlessly detecting temperature at several cooking locations (7-10) of the hob so as to detect the maximum temperature. The electric cooking appliance is switched OFF by the control unit when maximum temperature reaches or exceeds a predetermined value. |
