Method and device for producing float gas

The method involves introducing a glass raw material (211) to a burner (210) so as to produce a molten glass (212) that is introduced into a float glass bath (220). The burner is operated using oxygen-containing gas (122) and fuel (213). A gas mixture (112), a nitrogen product (110) and hydrogen (111) are applied to form an inert layer over the introduced glass melt in the float glass bath. An air separation plant (100) is provided for producing oxygen product (120) that is used for preparation of oxygen-containing gas and nitrogen product that is used for preparation of gas mixture. An independent claim is included for device for producing float glass.
