The invention relates to a herbal polypharmaceutical for treating and preventing atherosclerosis, comprising tannins, phenols, flavonoids, sugars, coumarins, terpenes, which has an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating function. In addition, the invention regenerates the endothelium and provokes the reversal of the endothelial dysfunction, and the degradation of the atheromatous plaque. The polypharmaceutical increases the synthesis of nitric oxide at an endothelial cell level, relaxing the muscular wall of the arteries and provoking vasodilatation, also some of the components thereof inhibit the platelet aggregation and reverse the prothrombotic condition. The agents preset in the product may hydrolyze the calcified complex of LDL-OX and contribute to the disintegration of foamy cells, thus favouring the elimination thereof as well as the regeneration of the vascular endothelium and sub-endothelium, and the recovery of the arterial lumen calliper. The product also presents an antipl atelet activity which prevents thrombus from forming, the compounds included in the product may hydrolyze the atheromatous plaques. The herbal polypharmaceutical is made of root and rhizome of Gentiana lutea and a Hippocratea excelsa alcohol extract. The invention has been probed for a long term, as a preventive and as a cure, in a large amount of patients with positive results, without side effects. |
