PURPOSE: A tension and compression load applying device is provided to apply relatively large loads to a mechanical material and machine structure with small power and to measure load line displacement generated in the mechanical material and machine structure. CONSTITUTION: A tension and compression load applying device comprises an external case(100), a screw(170), a bearing(160), a nut(180), a load cell(190), and a displacement gauge(110). The bearing is fixed in the inside of the external case while a screw is fitted in and transfers loads generated by the rotation of the screw to the case. The nut is coupled to the screw. The load cell is installed in an end part of the nut, thereby measuring tension and compression loads. The displacement gauge is installed alongside an axial direction of the screw, thereby measuring variations on a distance from a testing piece or testing portion. The tension and compression loads are controlled by controlling the rotation of a worm gear(130). |
