672,372. Wheel tyres. EXPANDED RUBBER CO., Ltd (Kreide, F. H.). Feb. 24, 1950, No. 4842/50. Classes 144 (i) and 144 (ii). A tyre having a filling of expanded (cellular) rubber is formed by assembling within the outer cover c a ring b of raw or partiallyvulcanized rubber, containing a dispersion of gasifying agent, over a collapsable tube a (Fig. 1) which is then inflated by means of a hot fluid to generate the gas, complete the vulcanization, and force the filling against the inner wall of the cover (Fig. 2), the tube a being then deflated through a valve e, whereupon the filling expands to fill the cover (Fig. 3). The gassing-agent employed is preferably one which produces nitrogen, e.g. diazoamino benzene. In a modification, the filler is inserted into an ordinary inner tube.
