Disclosed is a light-emitting diode light source. The light source includes a power supply comprising a power source. An array of light-emitting diodes (D1-D46) is provided which contains a plurality of groups of light-emitting diodes (D1-D46) connected in series; the groups being connected in parallel. The light source is configured such that the internal resistance of the light emitting diodes (D1-D46) is used to at least partially balance the current distribution between the parallel groups of light emitting diodes (D1-D46).
