Disclosed is a method for gas filling a handle portion of a container of a collapsible type allowing faster production. The handle portion is defined by two opposite side walls of the container and communicates via a duct defined by the side walls with an opening formed in one of the side walls. Gas is supplied at a gas filling station to the handle portion via the opening and the duct. The method steps comprise blocking the duct by means of a squeezing action produced by a movable pinching device to retain the gas supplied to the handle portion, and which grips the container for transport thereof from the gas filling station to a sealing station. The pinching device is moved along, in the vertical plane, a curved path from the gas filling station to the sealing station, moving the container laterally to a sealing station while maintaining the squeezing action. The duct is sealed at the sealing station while maintaining the squeezing action so to permanently enclose the gas in the handle portion. |
