A machining device (27) includes abrasive units (33) rotatingly mounted around second rotation axes (A4), and is utilized for machining a blank (23') of a covering part for forming a first curvature (C3). The machining device comprises displacing units (35) for displacing the second axes such that the second axes are movably mounted in a curved directrix for selectively forming a second curvature (C4) to the blank. The covering part is made of a crystalline alumina e.g. sapphire, corundum or ruby. An independent claim is also included for a covering part.
