Disclosed is a mounting system (110) for mounting an exhaust gas deflector (122) upon the upper cap member (120) of a pneumatically-powered fastener-driving tool (112). The system includes a fastener disposed internally within the upper cap member and not extending externally through the exhaust gas deflector. This arrangement gives the exhaust gas deflector component exhibit an aesthetically pleasing external appearance. The absence of any externally visible fastener structure extending through the exhaust gas deflector permits various indicia to be placed upon its external surface portion.
