Modular decking system using pre-constructed parts with the boards connected with rails that lie over beams

Disclosed is a decking component that allows pre-fabrication of the decking surface. It comprises a base frame, a series of channel shaped metallic rails and a plurality of boards arranged to provide a walking surface. The boards are fixed from underneath to the rails and the rails laid over and fastened to beams forming part of the base frame, each rail fitted against at least a top face and a side face of a corresponding one of the beams to cap the top of its respective beam and are continuous along the length of the beams. Groups of rails are orientated at right or orthogonal angles to each other.
