High Voltage electrical connector with a clamp having a contoured surface which corresponds with and prevents rotation of a conductor

Disclosed is a high voltage electrical connector adapted in use to connect a first electrical conductor to a second electrical conductor. The high voltage electrical connector includes a body portion and a securing portion, from either of which said first electrical conductor is adapted to connect to. The body portion and securing portion together define an engaging aperture in an interior of the connector. The engaging aperture can constrict and un-constrict by movement of the securing portion relative to the body portion. The engaging aperture has an internal contour as a keying means adapted to engage a complimentary portion of the second electrical conductor. The keying means and the complimentary portion prevent rotation of the second electrical conductor relative to the connector in both the constricted or un-constricted conditions. The connector includes a tensioning means to constrict and un-constrict the engaging aperture. The second electrical conductor is received into or out of the engaging aperture in a lateral direction. Electrical and physical connection of the connector to the second electrical conductor is affected when the second electrical conductor is surrounded by the engaging aperture and the connector is constricted.
