The insert (30) has a polymeric matrix (34) and a lubricant coating material filler (36), where the coating material filler contains solid lubricant. The polymeric matrix comprises material i.e. polystyrene, that possesses sublimation temperature less than or equal to 160 degree Celsius, where the sublimation temperature of the polymeric matrix is lower than melting temperature of a material forming a cylinder block. The lubricant coating material filler is in the form of powder with particle size less than or equal 100 mm. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing an insert (2) a method for coating an inner surface of a drum of a cylinder block in an internal combustion engine of a vehicle.
