The system has a carpooling server (12) programmed to compare data of personal digital assistants (PDAs) (9) for determining carpooling operation. An acquisition unit is arranged to acquire independent data of positions of passengers (a1, b1, c1) or arranged to acquire the positions of the passengers. The server or each PDA is programmed for converting the positions of the passengers into independent data, where the server compares the positions acquired by the PDAs on the basis of independent data of the positions of the passengers. An independent claim is also included for a computer program comprising a set of instructions for implementing steps for verifying a carpooling operation.
