TEST STAND FOR FLEXIBLE CARGO COVERINGS USED ON RAILROAD OPEN-TOP CARS, RAILROAD OPEN-TOP CAR MODEL, FLEXIBLE COVERING TESTING METHOD (VARIANTS), AND APPLICATION THEREOF FOR TESTING FLEXIBLE COVERINGS

The present invention relates to the installations, equipment and testing methods of flexible cargo coverings used on full-size railroad open-top cars. The offered test stand for flexible cargo coverings used on full-size railroad open-top cars consists of a continuous-flow wind tunnel (WT); mountings constructed in a way that allows to adjust the angles of yaw and attack; full-size railroad open-top car model set up on the abovementioned mountings; full-size flexible covering with fixed markers to keep records of its movements; rigging anchors, installed inside the abovementioned models, allowing to fixate the covering on different levels; rigging elements for fastening and fixation of the abovementioned covering; eyelets, attached to the abovementioned covering and located at intervals along the whole perimeter of the fore-mentioned covering to provide its fixation to the walls of the model with the help of the abovementioned rigging elements; strain gage sensors, installed to obtain straining force measurements of the abovementioned rigging elements; video cameras used for photo shooting and video recording of the fore-mentioned covering. Using the full-size model of rail-road open-top car and full-size flexible covering helps to obtain reliable data about the durability and performance characteristics of differently designed coverings, as well as to optimize their materials consumption.
