Disclosed is a compound of formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein Z is H, -C(=O)-R1, -C(=O)OR1, -C(=O)OCH2, -CH(R1)-NHC(=O)R2, -C(=O)OCHR2OC(=O)R3, -CR1=CR2 or -CH=CHC(=O)R4, wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each independently at each occurrence alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, hereroaryl or heterocycloalkyl, e.g. a compound where Z is H, that is 2-fluoro-11-(piperazin-1-yl)dibenzo [b,f][1,4]thiazepine. The intended use of the compounds is for treating bipolar disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.
