C or more comprises fractionating the feed to obtain light and heavy fractions and a residue, where the heavy fraction comprises at least 90 wt.% of material boiling between 450 and 700 deg. C, passing the heavy fraction to an extraction step to remove resins, mixing the heavy fraction with the light fraction and passing the mixture to a cracking step.
