The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a package (5) comprising a lower film (10) that contains at least first and second compartments (15,20) separated by a partition (17). The first compartment (15) can substantially contain a food product and the second compartment (17) can substantially contain a pouch (30). Specifically, the pouch comprises at least one rupturable seal (35,36) and houses one or more food additives (31). An upper film (40) is sealed to the lower film about the perimeter of the package via outer perimeter seal. In addition, the package comprises at least one inner perimeter seal (50) that cooperates with the pouch rupturable seals (35,36) and functions to isolate the first and second compartments until it is desired to intermix the food additive and the food product.
