<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque detector and an electric power steering system, which can be downsized. <P>SOLUTION: A torque sensor 7 comprises a first rotor 31 having a predetermined multiplication factor of angle, which is fixed on an input shaft 21; and a second rotor 32 having a predetermined multiplication factor of angle different from that of the first rotor 31, which is fixed on an output shaft 22. A stator 30 is arranged on outer peripheral surfaces of the first and second rotors 31 and 32. The stator 30 includes first to fourth output coils 33a to 33d, which generate electric signals having different phases in response to a gap change between the stator 30, and the first rotor 31 and the second rotor 32, with rotation of the first rotor 31 and the second rotor 32. A torsion angle of a torsion bar 23 connected between the input shaft 21 and the output shaft 22 is calculated based on electric signals generated by the first to fourth output coils 33a to 33d. Torque acting between the input shaft 21 and the output shaft 22 is calculated based on the torsion angle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
