<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device that can further lower power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A multifunction peripheral (MFP) includes a telephone connection terminal which is connected to a communication line having a service to give notice of caller information of a call origination side and also connected to an external telephone 50. A relay connects the external telephone to the telephone line in the state that power is not supplied, and disconnects the external telephone from the telephone line in the state that power is supplied. A CPU determines whether or not the external telephone is compliant to the service to give notice of caller information. The CPU detects reversal of polarity of the telephone line. The CPU performs control to maintain the state the external telephone is connected to the telephone line in a standby state, and if it is determined that the external telephone is not compliant to the service to give notice of caller information, to disconnect the external telephone from the telephone line in response to detection of reversal of polarity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
