<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interconnection system that is used together with a computer or constituent elements of a remote communication system. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an interconnection system, an apparatus, and a method for arranging elements in a network which may be a communication system where a data memory system, a computer system, or data paths are arranged and operated so as to control power consumption and data skew properties of the system. An interconnection at a node can be formed by using a configurable switching element. A power status of other aspects of the configurable switching element is managed by using a control signal and other information. Time delay skew of data being transmitted between nodes of the network may be altered by exchanging logical and physical line assignments of the data at one or more nodes of the network.
