<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the game property of a game machine that preferentially varies a second symbol and that performs a prior determination of a first symbol. <P>SOLUTION: In the game machine, first win/lose determination information is stored when a ball enters a first start pocket 28a. Second win/lose determination information is stored when a ball enters a second start pocket 28b. If a first win/lose determination results in jackpot, the first symbol is stopped and displayed as a jackpot symbol. If a second win/lose determination results in a jackpot, the second symbol is stopped and displayed as the jackpot symbol. If the first win/lose determination information and the second win/lose determination information are stored, variable display of the second symbol takes precedence. Prior to the first win/lose determination, a prior determination is performed for determining whether the first win/lose determination information will generate jackpot in the first win/lose determination.
