In order to improve the performance of recognition of the environment surrounding a vehicle, a vehicle periphery monitoring device (1) monitors the periphery of a vehicle (V). This vehicle periphery monitoring device (1) is provided with an image capturing unit (2) for capturing images of the periphery of the vehicle (V) to acquire a plurality of peripheral images, a display (3) for displaying the plurality of peripheral images captured by the image capturing unit (2), and an image control unit (4) for controlling the plurality of peripheral images to be displayed on the display (3). The image control unit (4) varies the distance between the plurality of peripheral images on the display (3). Consequently, it becomes possible to improve drivers' sensory understanding of the environment surrounding the vehicle, and improve the performance of recognition of the environment surrounding the vehicle. |
