This application describes methods for analysis of microRNA expression in indeterminate fine needle aspiration thyroid samples and the prognostic value of such methods for determining the malignant or benign status of these samples. One aspect of the invention is therefore a method of assessing whether a test thyroid tissue sample of intermediate diagnosis is benigh or malignant.
