PURPOSE: An LED lamp for both an illumination and a lantern and a controlling method thereof are provided to use as the lantern in an emergency situation while using as an illumination lamp with one LED lamp. CONSTITUTION: A rectifier(130) supplies charging and driving power by rectifying a commercial AC power supply. A battery(140) charges the power supplied to the rectifier. A power switch(160) selects one selected from the driving power generated from the rectifier, USB power generated from a USB power supply unit(170) and the driving power generated from the battery. A controller(180) controls the driving of a buzzer(196) and lighting of a light emitting device(120). A human body detection sensor(195) senses a human body and delivers the result of the sensing to the controller.
