<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce banding of seams of a head by suppressing rise in density difference of an image at both ends of a head array. <P>SOLUTION: The head 101A has ¾ΔEa¾ of brightness difference at lateral ends, so does the head 101B have ¾ΔEb¾, the head 101C have ¾ΔEc¾, and the head 101D have ¾ΔEd¾. Thus, a nozzle at the end with higher brightness of the head 101A is adjacent to a nozzle at the end with higher brightness of the head 101B, a nozzle at the end with lower brightness of the head 101B is adjacent to a nozzle with the end with lower brightness of the head 101C, and a nozzle at the end with higher brightness of the head 101C is adjacent to a nozzle at the end with higher brightness of the head 101D.
