<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately avoid the state of a device in which program start-up failure occurs. <P>SOLUTION: A device to which programs can be installed, when it is started, performs start-up processing for the installed programs and includes start-up control means. The start-up control means associates the information, which indicates the progress status of the start-up processing along the process, with the identification information of the programs and stores it in start-up status storage means.
