ANTIBODY α4&bgr;7 INTEGRIN TO TREAT INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE AND USE OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibody α4β7 integrin for treatment of an inflammatory bowel disease, and the use thereof.

SOLUTION: An immunoglobulin or its antigen-binding fragment has a binding specificity to the α4β7 integrin, which is useful in the treatment of a patient with a disease related to the leukocyte infiltration into a mucosal tissue. The use thereof includes a step for once or more administrations in a continuing dose after an initial dose. Minimal interval is at least one day between any two dosings, 8 mg/body weight Kg or less is administered over a month. The immunoglobulin or its antigen-binding fragment binds specifically to the α4β7, but does not bind toα4β1.
