<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of detecting degradation in reforming performance by a fuel cell 11. <P>SOLUTION: Degradation in reforming performance by an anode electrode 11b in a fuel cell 11 can be detected by measuring the temperature of reformed gas outputted from a fuel reformer 15a. If the reforming performance degradation is detected, the temperature of the fuel reformer 15a is kept at a desired temperature by increasing an air/fuel ratio (A/F).
