<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new electrosurgical system. <P>SOLUTION: An electrosurgical bipolar forceps 10 for sealing tissue includes one or more shaft members 12 having an end effector assembly 100 disposed at the distal end. The effector assembly includes two jaw members 110 and 120 movable from a first position to a closed position wherein the jaw members cooperate to grasp tissue at a constant pressure. Each of the jaw members include an electrically conductive sealing plates 112 and 122 connected to a first energy source 2 which communicates electrosurgical energy through the tissue held therebetween. The electrosurgical energy is transmitted at constant voltage. The seal plates are operably connected to a sensor circuit to measure initial tissue impedance value and transmit it to a controller. The controller determines the constant pressure and the constant voltage to be applied to the tissue based on the initial impedance value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
