<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator system that takes appropriate measures according to a situation in an elevator car when a flame is detected in the car. <P>SOLUTION: In the elevator system 10, a car 12 having a door 14 includes a person detection sensor 30, a flame detection sensor 32, a display panel 22, a speaker 24, and a fire extinguisher 34. A controller 40 is connected to the person detection sensor 30, the flame detection sensor 32, the car door 14, the display panel 22, the speaker 24, and the fire extinguisher 34.
