<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively control the temperature of a heater to prevent cooked rice from getting cold due to a decreased temperature of steam or to prevent steamed rice from getting superheated (dried or burned) due to an increased temperature of steam since it is important to control the temperature of steam. <P>SOLUTION: A superheated steam generating device 15 includes a case 41, and a heater 42 provided such that a heating part 42B is disposed in the case. The device is configured such that steam brought into the case through a steam intake opening 41c is heated by the heating part 42B of the heater to generate superheated steam, and the superheated steam is discharged through the steam discharge opening 41d. The device is provided with a superheated steam temperature detector 18 for detecting the temperature of the superheated steam, which is disposed adjacent to the superheated steam discharge opening 41d in order to stabilize the temperature of the steam, thus achieving a superheated steam generating device that can further increase the temperature of the superheated steam, control the temperature of the steam, and is reduced in size.
