<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of renewing an elevator, using an inexpensive, safe new type of header case. <P>SOLUTION: An existing hall door and an existing header case are replaced with a new hall door and a new header case in a first period work. An existing car is replaced with a new car in a second period work. The above works are separately performed. The elevator is available when the work is suspended until the second period work is started. An existing interlock device and an existing switch box are attached to the new hall door and the new header case in the first period work.
