<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peripheral information retrieval device which can retrieve peripheral information of an appropriate range without imposing loads on a user even when the user is not moving. <P>SOLUTION: When peripheral information retrieval means 71 receives position information indicating a position of a user from a portable terminal, the peripheral information retrieval means 71 determines a retrieval range for retrieving peripheral information based on the position information, and retrieves the peripheral information included in the retrieval range.
