The helmet (1) has closable ventilation openings, and ear flaps (5a, 5b) formed on top of each other and folded towards an inner area of the helmet. The ear flaps are detachably connected with each other in folded state. The ear flaps have a pivot axis (9) extending along a temple area, where thickness of the ear flaps at the pivot axis is less than in a central region that lies below the pivot axis. The flaps for forming the pivot axis exhibit a lower pad on the axis. The ear flaps are pivotable around an angle of 90 degrees, where the openings are formed in a rear head region.
