Provided is a control method for a video server system with which lost data are efficiently recovered during operation even if a fault occurs at an operating-side or standby-side content server that stores images used in broadcasting. If a fault occurs in a content server (1), when content server (1) performs recovery, the excess or deficient content image file data (hereinafter, content) of the content servers (1, 2) are listed, and recording starts even on content server (1). A transmission server (1) and a transmission server (2) acquire content from content server (2), and use a synchronization LAN to copy said content to content server (1) from content server (2) sequentially from the content having the most recent recording time of the listed discrepant content. Content server (2) deletes content having an old recording date in accordance with a storage limit. Synchronization ends if the copying of the listed discrepant content from the transmission server (2) to the transmission server (1) ends, or if the listed discrepant content that has not been copied to transmission server (1) is no longer present in content server (2).
