PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely calculate and compensate nonlinear damage of a light transmission system.

SOLUTION: The method for compensating nonlinear damage comprises: determining an additive parameter indicating an amount of nonlinear damage based on a plurality of sampled signal sets obtained by sampling input signals a number of times at different sampling time; and subtracting the additive parameter from the input signals.
