<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator for a rotary electric machine that is easy to be assembled and is made small by a decrease in volume of coil ends. <P>SOLUTION: A stator for a rotary electric machine includes: a cylindrical stator core 10 that has a plurality of slots 11 formed in an inner circumferential surface thereof; coil segments 21, 22, and 23 that are inserted into the slots 11; and coil end plates 24, 25, and 26 that are electrically connected to the coil segments 21, 22, and 23. Each of the coil segments 21, 22, and 23 has a first leg portion, a second leg portion, and a bent portion that is formed between the first leg portion and the second leg portion so as to be continuous therewith. Each of the coil end plates 24, 25, and 26 has a flat plate portion, and a pair of extension portions. On an end surface of the stator core 10, a plurality of each of the coil end plates 24, 25, and 26 are arranged circumferentially and are also laminated.
