PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a wood-based product without releasing formaldehyde.

SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing a wood-based product includes applying an adhesive composition containing ungelled starch in an aqueous phase to one or more wood-based material pieces, and jointing the one or more wood-based material pieces to one or more additional material pieces, wherein the composition further contains about 0.1-50 wt.% of one or more polymers (P) each containing an amine group or amide group.
