<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reception volume adjustment function of identifying a call environment of a telephone apparatus and transmission of a speaker, comparing the volume of reception data received during a telephone call and reception volume reference data stored beforehand, and thus automatically changing a reception volume level of the telephone call to an appropriate value for each call environment and each speaker. <P>SOLUTION: A call environment of a telephone apparatus (S11) and transmission of a speaker are identified (S12), reception data during the telephone call is changed to a reception volume level exclusive for the speaker for each call environment (S15), and the reception volume to be reproduced by an extension telephone or an outside line of a telephone call opposite party is adjusted.
