The present invention provides: a liquid crystal display device which has sufficiently high responsivity and sufficiently excellent transmittance; and a thin film transistor array substrate which is suitable for use in the liquid crystal display device. The electrodes of this thin film transistor array substrate include a pair of comb electrodes and a planar electrode, and at least one electrode selected from the group consisting of the pair of comb electrodes and the planar electrode is electrically connected along the pixel line.
