<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor which uses Joule heat and which can achieve simplification of a manufacturing process and improvement of reliability. <P>SOLUTION: A gas sensor includes a gas detection element 1 and a temperature detection element 5 which are housed by a case 8 having a gas inlet 8a. Both ends of the gas detection element 1 are fixed to upper ends of first and second stays 3,3. The temperature detection element 5 is a chip type element and is mounted on a base plate 6 which serves as a lid of a bottom of the case 8.
