The device (1) has thermoelectric modules (2, 2') connected with a heat exchanger structure (3) by a laser soldering or laser welding connection for heat transfer such that the heat exchanger structure and the thermoelectric modules form a prefabricated component. The thermoelectric modules are arranged between an exhaust-gas carrying component and a coolant-carrying component. The heat exchanger structure is connected to the exhaust-gas and coolant-carrying components such that the heat exchanger structure is in direct contact with exhaust gas.
