<p>Provided is a lens for optical transmission, and a semiconductor module using the same, that enables a compact semiconductor module and that can suppress coupling efficiency fluctuations by limiting effective NA to low levels. Because a diffraction structure (DS) is provided only on one surface of an optical coupling lens (CL), the overall diffraction pitch is narrowed, and in the spot at the end surface of an optical fiber (OF) where the optical coupling lens (CL) focuses the light, the quantity of light in the peripheral area becomes low in relation to the quantity of light passing through the vicinity of the light axis of the lens, resulting in a bigger spot and an increased effective NA. Thus, in a case where the temperature changes, coupling efficiency fluctuations are reduced.</p> |
