<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device having a light emitting element for achieving improvement in light use efficiency by enhancing heat dissipation from a phosphor layer. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting element 10R includes a first member 23, a second member 21, and a phosphor layer 11R provided between the first member and the second member and composed of plural phosphor particles. A first face of the phosphor layer comes into contact with the first member and a second face of the phosphor layer opposite to the first face comes into contact with the second member.
