<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that makes a driver to easily recognize a boundary between an own vehicle and a peripheral region in a picked up image so as to prevent collision with a nearby obstacle. <P>SOLUTION: A display device of the present invention includes: own vehicle region extracting means 6 for extracting an own vehicle region from an image of an own vehicle and its surroundings picked up by imaging means 1; boundary edge extracting means 7 for extracting a boundary edge between the own vehicle region and a peripheral region of the own vehicle from the picked up image of the own vehicle and its surroundings; contrast extracting means 8 for extracting contrast of the own vehicle region; highlight means 9 for highlighting the boundary edge; and display means 3 for displaying the picked up image of the own vehicle and its surroundings including the boundary edge highlighted by the highlight means 9.
