A diaphragm valve assembly is provided for a respiratory system comprising a valve housing having a first port arranged for fluid communication with a fluid supply and an outlet spaced from the first port by a valve chamber. A diaphragm member is arranged for the selective control of flow between the first port and the outlet. The valve housing has an opening across which the diaphragm member extends. A lid is shaped to cooperate with the valve housing about said opening so as to trap the diaphragm member and thereby define a control chamber between the diaphragm member and the lid. The control chamber is isolated from the valve chamber by said diaphragm member, and cooperation between the lid and diaphragm member forms a seal between the control chamber and the outside of the assembly. According to one aspect of the invention, the diaphragm member comprises a plurality of integrally formed flanges. The lid may have a control port connector formation integrally formed therein. |
