The exhaust device has an exhaust gas recirculation cooler (10) which has a heat exchanger (11) with an exhaust duct (12) for guiding an exhaust gas stream (13) and a coolant line (14) for cooling a portion of the exhaust duct by a coolant. The exhaust gas recirculation cooler has a wall (16) that is arranged spaced-apart to the heat exchanger. The wall is provided to form a gas inlet floor upstream to the heat exchanger.
