The device (1) has a reference radio link (10) including a transmitter (11) for transmitting a reference signal, and a receiver (12) for receiving the reference signal. The device is combined with the radio link and connected with an external Global system for Mobile Communication (GSM)antenna (3) and/or an external global positioning system (GPS) antenna (4). The GPS antenna determines position of the motor car. The radio link is operated at same frequency and/or with same signal level as an external signal. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a motor car.
