The present invention relates to a method for detecting an actuating motion (G1, G3) for activating by means of a sensor an actuator for at least one motor vehicle equipment element, comprising at least two capacitive sensors (S1, S2) having overlapping detecting ranges (E1, E2) and providing signals to a controller for actuating the equipment element. The method comprises first determining at least one direction of the actuating motion (G1, G3) within the overlapping detecting ranges (E1, E2, E4) as a valid direction of motion for actuating the motor vehicle equipment element; subsequently, detecting a motion (G1, G2, G3, G4) through the detecting ranges (E1, E2, E4) of two sensors (S1, S2) and determining an overall duration (tges) of the motion (G1, G2, G3, G4) through the detecting ranges (E1, E2, E4) using the controller, and detecting an overlapping duration (t12, t24) of the motion (G1, G2, G3, G4) in an overlap range ((E12, E24) of the overlapping detecting ranges (E1, E2, E4), whereupon a quotient is calculated of the overlapping duration (t12,t24) and the overall duration (tges) and is compared to a predetermined threshold value separating a validity range from a non-validity range, wherein the threshold value is determined by a ratio of a path segment through the overlap range (E12, E24) to an overall path through the detecting range (E1, E2, E4) flush with the path segment. Finally, the motion (G1, G2, G3, G4) is detected as an actuating motion (G1, G3) having a valid direction of motion if the quotient is within the validity range. The invention further relates to a sensor-controlled actuator for a motor vehicle equipment element and to a motor vehicle equipped therewith. |
